About the Exhibition

Pierre Gauvin

Pierre Gauvin was born in 1959 in Montmagny and lives and works in Montreal. He holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from Concordia University, where he studied photography, cinema and electro-acoustic music. A photographer-performer, his work has been presented throughout Quebec and the rest of Canada since the late 1980s at such venues as the Floating Gallery in Winnipeg and the Clark and Circa galleries in Montreal. He has recently created a new series of images which enquire into the interchangeableness of identity through the use of playful masks during residencies at the Château de Napoule in France and the Vermont Studio Center, where he created Normand au Vermont.

Pierre Gauvin benefited from an artist's residency at Centre VU for the creation of Normand à Québec.

Pierre Gauvin is the author of Gravé dans les ruines published by Éditions J'ai Vu in the series Livres d'artistes.
