The abstract-looking images of Jérémie Lenoir take us into an aesthetic imaginary that emanates from the industrial sites on the margins of our cities: quarries, construction sites, greenhouses, wastelands, and roofs are scrutinized from the air in order to highlight patterns in structures and installations that were built above all to be functional. Looking down on French and Québécois landscapes, it is possible to see the ways in which large-scale human activities trace forms of variable geometry on the surface of a territory. The sites appear devoid of human beings, without seeming deserted; these transformed landscapes have been conceived and constructed by mankind to make possible its diverse activities, and will continue to accumulate the scars which become, in some way, the portrait of an afflicted society.

Biographie
Né en 1983 et diplômé de l’École supérieure d’art et de design d’Orléans, Jérémie Lenoir construit depuis près de dix ans une anthropologie des paysages contemporains. Ses projets révèlent la globalisation des formes, fonctions et usages de nos espaces de vie par la conjugaison d’un point de vue photographique aérien et d’influences puisées dans la peinture. Entre la nécessité de capturer le réel et celle de sa transfiguration en tableaux, ses photographies tentent d’apporter à nos territoires contemporains un réalisme nouveau. Jérémie Lenoir est l’auteur de Territoires occupés (LME, 2009), Transfigurations (Filigranes, 2011) et NORD (Light Motiv, 2016). Il a été lauréat, entres autres, de la Bourse de la Fondation Mécène et Loire et du 18e prix A.M.E. (Art et mécénat d’entreprise en Essonne).
