These mountains that follow one after another increasingly turn to blue as they recede into the distance. Blue is the colour of remoteness, the colour of things that seem estranged, beyond reach. But it can also be that of a world to construct, to imagine, to dream. In his life as much as in his photographs, Shuwei Liu chases the colour blue to spread it everywhere around him%u2014from the indigo dye that saturates his clothing to his photographs, which capture elements that can only be touched by sight or by the mind. This quest also represents a way to refuse darkness and blindness, to abstract himself from reality not by closing eyes but rather by being on the lookout for fragile and transient moments, where the light gives rise to the imaginary.
